Whether it is cobia, tarpon, grouper, snapper or redfish, you can expect to catch an abundance of fish species all year long, along Florida’s Emerald Coast - just make sure you have what you need in order to reel them in! We put together a list of five essentials that you should always have in your tackle box.

1. A Multi-Tool

With two knives, pliers, wire cutters, and a bottle and can opener, a multi-tool is a great piece to keep in your tackle box. Not to mention, every multi-tool is different, so you can buy the one that best fits your fishing needs!

2. Extra Line

Whether you break your line at an inopportune moment or the line gets tangled in your reel, it is always nice to have extra line to save the day.

3. Small First Aid Kit

Antibiotic ointment, bandages, alcohol wipes and medical tape are all great to have in case you get injured on your fishing expedition. Pro tip: Make sure your First Aid Kit includes sunscreen. When you are out on the water all day long, the last thing you want is to round out your day burnt and in pain.

4. The Right Lures and Bait

What type of fish do I want to catch? Do I have a backup lure in case I lose one? What type of bait does the fish like that I want to catch? These are a couple questions to ask yourself when packing the right lures and bait for your fishing trip! There is nothing worse than getting out on the water, only to realize you do not have what you need in order to catch the fish you desire.

5. Measuring Tape

To save yourself from getting into serious trouble, make sure to have measuring tape so you can know exactly how long your fish is. If you keep fish that are below the legal limit, this can result in having to pay serious fines and no one wants that.
